Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (#9)

#9 on TRAINS magazine's Top 100 Train Movies of all time.  This classic film ws directed by George Roy Hill in 1969, and starred Paul Newman and Robert Redford in this film based on true Wild West outlaws.  Katherine Ross stars as their mutual love interest.  The outlaws were leaders of the Hole in the Wall gang.  When their success gets to be too much for the railroad owners, they hire the best enforcement then can to stop Butch and Sundance, and the two must escape south of the border, where they continued their robbing, and met their end.  Trains used: Rio Gande K-28 Mikados 473 and 478.  Both are 2-8-2's, and operated noth and east of Durango, Colorado.  The line was shut down 3 months after filming stopped.
