The REEL FACTS' staff quantifies the language, sexual content, violence, and drug use in each movie described. Listed after the MPAA rating in each review is the breakdown (i.e., 11 f-words, 5 s-words, etc.)
Next the actual count is a graph showing the relative severity in seven categories. These graphs are designed to give a quick look at the offensive content, graded from 0 to 100. For instance, a movie with 25 f-words would have a 50 reading on the graph. A count of 150 f-words and over would have a 100 reading, or maximum. One pot smoking scene would receive a 60 rating.
This ratings detail is not intended as a social commentary. It is intended to help people make their movie choices. For instance, one "R" rated film may have 15 f-words, and another film may have 100 f-words. Customer A may find the first film acceptable, but is offended by the constant use of the f-word in the second. Customer B may be unaffected by either. You make the choice.
We particularly encourage parents to use the information to make choices based on what they feel is appropriate for their children. This will undoubtedly vary from parent to parent. the opportunity for choice is what matters.
